Leggo doesn't want your data.
Last updated August 9, 2026
Leggo is an RSS, Atom and JSON feed reader for iOS. It has no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. This page explains, in plain language, exactly what data the app touches and where it goes.
The short version
- Leggo doesn't have servers, so there's no company backend collecting or storing your data.
- Your feeds, articles and read/unread state live on your device, in Apple's SwiftData store.
- If you turn on iCloud sync, that same data syncs between your own devices through your own iCloud account, via Apple's CloudKit. The developer cannot see it.
- The app talks to the internet only to (a) fetch the feeds you subscribe to and (b) load small site icons — never to a server run by the developer.
- No analytics SDKs, no crash reporters, no ad networks are included in the app.
Data stored on your device
When you add a feed, Leggo stores its title, URL and any tags you assign to it. As articles are fetched, Leggo caches their content and metadata, along with your read/unread status and article tags. All of this is stored locally in the app's SwiftData database on your device. Leggo has no login or account system, so none of it is tied to an identity beyond your device.
The app also keeps a short-lived, on-device event log (the last 10 minutes of sync activity — successes, errors and skipped refreshes), visible in Settings → Event Log. It's for troubleshooting sync on your own device, never leaves the device, and you can clear it at any time.
iCloud sync (optional)
Settings includes a "Sync via iCloud" toggle. When it's on, your feed list and read/unread state sync across your own devices using SwiftData's CloudKit integration and your personal iCloud account — the same private database model Apple uses for apps like Notes or Reminders. That data is stored in Apple's CloudKit under your Apple ID, governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. The developer has no access to it.
Turning the toggle off stops new syncing (after an app restart); to remove data already stored in iCloud, use Apple's iCloud storage settings or delete the app's iCloud data from your device's iCloud settings.
Network requests the app makes
Leggo only connects to the internet for two reasons, both directly triggered by feeds you choose to add:
- Fetching your feeds. The app downloads and parses the RSS/Atom/JSON feed at each URL you subscribe to, whether you refresh manually, pull-to-refresh, or (if enabled in Settings) via periodic background refresh. This is a direct connection between your device and that site, the same as visiting it in a browser.
- Site icons. To show a small icon next to each feed, Leggo requests a favicon from Google's public favicon service (google.com/s2/favicons), passing only the domain of the feed — never any personal or device identifier.
When you open an article, its content is rendered in an in-app web view and may load images or other embedded resources directly from the original site, just as it would in a browser.
None of these requests pass through, or are logged by, any server operated by the developer.
Backup export & import
Settings lets you export your feed list to a JSON file and import it back. This file is created and stored wherever you choose (e.g. the Files app, AirDrop, email) — it's never sent to the developer.
Notifications & app badge
Leggo asks for notification permission solely to show the unread article count as a badge on the app icon; it does not send push notifications with content. If iCloud sync is on, Apple may use silent (invisible) push notifications behind the scenes to tell the app when to sync — no notification is shown to you for this, and no content is included in it.
What Leggo does not do
- No accounts, sign-in, or personal profile data
- No analytics or usage tracking
- No advertising or ad networks
- No selling or sharing of data with third parties
- No data collected from or about children — the app isn't directed at children and doesn't knowingly collect data from anyone
Deleting your data
Deleting the app removes its local data from your device. If you used iCloud sync, you can also remove the synced copy via your device's iCloud settings.
